ZESCO UNITED TO FACE NKANA FC IN CHARITY SHIELD FINAL


FAZ vice president Rix Mweemba today held a press conference highlighting about certain issues concerning the incoming 2019 transitional League which is slated for kick off on 27th January 2019.

As usual we always have the curtain raiser for the opening of the league which mostly is played by four teams finishing in the top four of the previous log but this time around the association has decided to hold the final with the 2018 league Champions (Zesco United FC) facing it up against the Barclay’s Cup Champion (Nkana FC) on 26th January 2019.

Other issues highlighted was the formation of the National league which will commence in August 2019 with 18 teams participating.

Mr Mweemba explained that the two bottom placed teams at the end of each Transitional group leagues will drop down to the National division one league, they will be joined by those who will finish on 2nd, 3rd and 4th from each Division one Zone to make the number to 16 teams.

He later explained about the promotion to the Super league were he said only two teams will be promoted to the super league in August 2019 but this will be done by having the play-offs for the champions of each division one Zone.

The four teams from the zones will be drawn to play each other and the winners will earn their place in the Super league whilst the loser’s will join the 16 teams in National Division to bring the total number of teams to 18.

The vice president later told the media that the rest of the teams will now be put to play in provincial leagues which will later commence in August and they will be age limit for player in each provincial division.
