THE ULTIMATE CLASH!
NKANA FC vs ZESCO UNITED FC
The clash of titans witnessed in Zambia was a clash between two teams with lots of history between them and they are Nkana FC and Zesco United FC. This clash has turned out to be one of the most compelling, emotionally draining as well as satisfying, pride filling games and took place in Kitwe at the famous Nkana Stadium.
The first half started with a few chances which were far apart with Zesco having a few more than Nkana, the clash had a first half which many fans claimed was not representative of the game’s calibre as the action was just not enough. The match dragged on with the same show from both sets of players and as a result the first half ended with a 0 – 0 scoreline.
The second half began with more promise as clear cut chances were created by the visiting team. The earliest chance of the game fell to Jesse Jackson Were who proved not to be as clinical as always when he directed his shot at the home team’s goal keeper kelvin Malunga in close range and not so long from that; Marcel Kalonda latched onto Kampumbu’s free kick and struck wide from inside the box only 9 minutes from the beginning of the 2nd half.
Finally, the deadlock was broken by non-other than Jesse Jackson Were when he proved to be too smooth, in fact smoother than the back of a spoon as he bested the veteran defender Joseph Musonda and placed a well taken shot beyond the keeper to make it 0 – 1 to Zesco.
The Nkana frontline anchored on Walter Bwalya, Ronald Kampamba and Festus Mbewe didn’t trouble the Zesco keeper Jacob Banda as much as was expected on the day. Idriss Mbombo started from the bench before making an appearance in the last half of the game and as well as the others had no impact on the game as it ended 0 – 1 with a lone goal from Were.
