THE GRAND DERBY! (review)
NKANA FC vs POWER DYNAM犀利士
OS FC
The famous Kitwe derby played by Nkana FC and Power Dynamos FC is a game every MTN FAZ Super League enthusiast looks forward to and it took place in week 4 at the Famed Nkana Stadium also known as “Pa Chilata.” The game is known for its drama, flair, excitement and everything nice; looking back at the game it’s safe to say it lived up to expectations.
Power Dynamos attacked Nkana’s goal from right to left and managed to silence the loud Nkana fans with an early goal under a minute as Reagan Ndama Nkuy managed to head in a Kelvin Mubanga cross, meeting the ball at the back without any pressure from the Nkana defenders. The game dragged on in the same fashion as Power attacked from Nkana’s left side of defense as they couldn’t deal with the crosses being delivered through the channel, chances came by and begged to be taken as Alex Ngonga’s header flashed across the goal missing what was possibly the second best chance of the first half; for all the efforts shown by Power at half time the match ended at 0 – 1 in favour of them.
At the beginning of second half Nkana walked onto the field with renewed ambition after making substitutions that saw Festus Mbewe brought into the game. It only took 8 minutes into the 2nd half for Nkana to equalize and the goal came from a familiar face, Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba who scored arguably the best goal in the league after Festus Mbewe brought down the ball into Sate Sate’s path who controlled the ball with his chest and caught the ball on a volley, smashing it into the back of the net and went off celebrating to the chants of “Landlord! Landlord! Landlord!”. 28 minutes later, all joy and hope of a comeback were dashed away as Kelvin Mubanga scored a controversial goal which many have claimed was a handball and offside, the controversial goal scored in the 81st min turned out to be the match winner as the game ended 1 – 2 in favour of Power Dynamos also known as “Aba Yellow.”
