LEAGUE FOOTBALL SO FAR PART 4

As lovers of Zambian Football, Zedbola would like to welcome you to the 4th part of league football so far. With 15 weeks of Club Football served to fans and the faithful excitement, drama, outstanding goals and excellent football is promised in the near future. As Zedbola, we would like to give a review of the football that has been witnessed so far in the Zambian Super League and here it goes:

To get the title of “The Most Exciting Stream” is Stream A, getting back the title after missing out in part 3 of this article. Stream A gets back the title after 15 game weeks after amassing a total of 176 goals and Stream B misses out on the title coming short with 160 goals, although one might argue saying stream B has a few games less in total compared to stream A, with a difference 16 goals between the two streams awarding the title to stream A is justified. The ZSL in total has given us a combined sum of 336 goals.

To get the title of “The Most Consistent Team” is Kabwe Warriors, since the transitional league kicked-off the Kabwe based team is the only team yet to taste defeat either at home or away and this comes after playing the likes of Lusaka Dynamos, Zesco United, Zanaco and Green Buffaloes all of whom have made light work of the other teams in stream A. Kabwe Warriors have amassed a total of 29 points and sit 1st on the log seeking a way into continental football and ultimately the title of ZSL Champions.

To get the title of “The Most Entertaining Team” is Kabwe Warriors, aside from being the most consistent team out of the combination of both streams Warriors have been going about their business with style; getting comebacks, making lightwork of their rivals, scoring goals and more all the while making it look easy. Kabwe Warriors have scored a total of 20 goals in 15 games which makes them joint third top scoring team in stream A and it is worth noting that they are the team with the least goals conceded in stream A allowing only 11 goals in 15 games.

To get the unwanted title of “Weakest Defense” is Mufulira Wanderers, since gaining promotion to the Super League they have found the going tough as they have been on the receiving end of beatings subjected by other teams. Mufulira Wanderers occupy 8th position in stream B and have conceded a total of 26 goals in 16 games, they are the team with the heaviest defeats in the current season; with the most recent coming against Zesco United which ended 6-0 and the other one was against Zanaco which ended 6-1.
