LEAGUE FOOTBALL SO FAR PART 3
League football has been nothing short of exciting and this article is to serve as a reminder of what we have witnessed so far in the transitional season as league football is put on halt as International matches are in play. This article also aims to recognize both teams and players for their outstanding performances so far while also noting performances that have been below average.
To get the title of “The Most Exciting Group” is group B, finally Group B earns title after Group A earned the title in back to back articles. Group B has been the tightest group from the word go and now it’s the group with the most goals scored so far with 91 goals scored in just 8 weeks of league football and Group A misses out on the title with just 82 goals scored in the same number of games played. To sum up the goals scored by both groups the total gets to 173.
To get the title of “The Most Entertaining Team” is Zanaco FC, to anyone who has been following league football will understand why Zanaco FC have retained the title for the third time now. The Sensational Side they call themselves, have been at their best this time around blowing opponents away with their quick transitional and counter attacking style in the process winning 5 games out of 8 and scoring 23 goals; its only obvious that they maintain their title which for the record has not been given to any other team so far.
To get the title of “Tightest Defence” is Nkwazi FC and Zesco united FC although both have 1 game and 3 games in hand respectively. Both Nkwazi and Zesco have conceded only 4 goals each making them the sides with the fewest goals conceded so far in their respective groups.
To get the ultimate title of “Outstanding Player” is Austin Muwowo and Tafadzwa Rusike. Quite unusual that the title goes to 2 individuals but they have made it hard to select who has been better as they have been pulling rabbits out of the respective hats for their teams’ week in week out. Austin Muwowo for Forest Ranger FC has been the go to guy bagging 5 goals and 8 assists in 7 games, while on the other hand, Rusike for Zanaco has been the genius pulling the strings in midfield with his silk smooth touches and passes getting himself a total 6 goals sitting at the top of the goal scoring chart while playing in midfield.
Stay tuned for part 4!
