CHISI MBEWE – “THERE’S MASSIVE TALENT”

Chisi Mbewe, who is overseeing 55 players attending the nationwide trials says Zambia’s future is clear. This evidenced by the investments made in grassroots football development.

CHISI MBEWE ON THE PROCESS SO FAR

“So far so good, the selection is going on well. There’s a lot of talent from the young boys coming from across the country. We are happy that we have an opportunity to pick the best for the national team.”

Along with Mbewe; Isaac Chansa and William Njobvu are on hand to help get the best talents in the country.

“We have a few coaches assisting us with forming the best team, we’ll get the best team.”

“There’s massive talent in these players who have come for the national trials, we have the players and will come up with the best team from this group.”

ON THE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT

“The Georgia trip is a motivation to the young future national team players because if they compete outside it will motivate them and I am sure they will even work hard to become mature professionals. For the technical bench, it’s helping us to nurture these upcoming stars.” Mbewe said.

“It’s (this selection is) important, we need to start from the lower ranks. We need to nurture them because we had neglected this stage for some time. If we start form this stage, we will have the Patson Dakas, Enock Mwepus from these young players so we really need to take care of these players at this stage,” he added.

Chisi Mbewe gave assurance that a competent team of U15 Junior Chipolopolo boys will be formed to represent the country.

All the 10 provinces have representation of players at the nationwide trials following the successful completion of provincial trials held early this month. The UEFA Assist U16 Four Nations International Tournament will be held in Georgia, This coming month.
