BITTERSWEET VICTORY FOR THE CHIPOLOPOLO
Zambia put Seychelles to the sword from the word go, as early pressure led to a wonderful long-range strike from Kangwanda, who took his tally to two goals at the tournament. However, there weren’t any more goals in the first half, as the score ended at 1-0 to Zambia at halftime.
The second half began in the same vein as Zambia dominated the early stages of the second half, and it wasn’t long before the Chipolopolo extended their lead as Kemuka swung in one of his dangerous corners and Killian Kanguluma was on hand to poke in a loose ball. Before long, the lead was extended to three as Golden Mashata forced in a rebound as the Seychelles keeper made a brilliant save from an Andrew Phiri shot.
Fredrick Mulambia was on hand to further extend Zambia’s lead as he finished off a beautiful attacking move that ended with him nutmegging the Seychelles goalkeeper. However, Zambia couldn’t see out the game as a lapse in concentration from Killian led to Seychelles pulling one back, only for Seychelles to further find the back of the net after another lapse in concentration, souring the Chipolopolo’s victory and spreading anxiety as progression to the SEMI-FINALS hangs in the balance for Zambia.
