CHIPOLOPOLO HEAD COACH MICHO
The now confirmed head coach Milutin Sredojevic also known as “Micho” was always a favourite to land the job ever since his name was mentioned on the shortlisted coaches. As Zedbola we would like to congratulate him for his appointment and dedicate this article to him.
Micho is a well-travelled coach on the continent and wherever he has landed his impact has been felt. Milutin has experience coaching both National teams and football clubs, bringing with him 26 years of coaching experience which has seen him train sides like Zamalek, Orlando Pirates, Ugandan national team, Young African, Al-Hilal and the list goes on; Micho’s success speaks for itself as he has led his sides to 17 trophies across Africa alongside numerous Coach of the Year awards, leading the Ugandan national team to AFCON after a 38 years as well as developing the famous Dennis Onyango and earning Uganda the title of National Team of the Year 2016, for Orlando Pirates I his first stint he guided them to the Semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in his first season and for Al-Hilal he led them to consecutive Semi-Final appearances in continental football first in the CAF Confederation Cup and then in the CAF Champions League. It is in Uganda that his work is hugely appreciated as he is considered to have piloted the football they are witnessing now.
Milutin Sredojevic’s footballing philosophy is that of high intensity, modern zonal pressing and attacking football which he models after coaches that he holds in high respect; which include Miljan Miljanic who once coached the Spanish side Real Madrid, the Croatian Tomislav Ivic who is regarded as the father of modern zonal pressing and Johan Cruyff who wasn’t only a great coach but player as well and is known as the father of modern football with his influence seen world over. Micho considers the mentioned coaches as “Fathers of modern coaching”.
With the coming in of Milutin Sredojevic, fans and followers of the Chipolopolo see a breath of fresh air and hope this means positive results and happy times will now be associated with watching the Zambian National Team. For now, we wait and see.
