Team YAZIKO vs Team KOPPALA (review)

BUILDCON FC vs ZESCO UNITED FC

A match known to everyone as the game that brings professionals from the local scene as well as the international scene was played in the heart of Ndola by Zesco United locally known as “Zega Mambo” as well as “Team Yaziko” and Buildcon also known as “Team Koppala.”

The game came to life when Buildcon captained by Chisamba Lungu drew first blood as they got their goal through Ghanaian striker Rahim Osmanu as he headed in a John Makwata corner in the 38th minute. Buildcon’s goal forced Zesco into making a substitution; taking out the off form Enock Sabumukama and bringing on Zikiru Adams just six minutes before half time, however, the substitution did not prove to be fruitful as the game ended 1 – 0 to Buildcon at half time.

At the beginning of the second half Zesco United came out with a breath of fresh air and new energy as they equalized through Zikiru in the 52nd minute off a cross that came from Lameck Banda. 16 minutes later Jesse Jackson Were gave Zesco United the lead for the first time in the game as he cut through the Buildcon defence like a hot knife through butter, giving the Zesco faithful something to celebrate.

Buildcon’s day went from bad to worse as Zimbabwean international Devon Chaffa got sent off in the 77th minute for a second booking following a two footed challenge on Banda. Things went from worse to nightmarish as Buildcon gave away a cheap penalty which Kambole dispatched condemning Buildcon to a defeat as the game ended 1 – 3 to Zesco United. Sunday’s game was a stern warning by Zesco United to their rivals and pretenders alike showing that they mean business in the already started league season.
