ZANACO FC vs ZESCO UNITED FC
(review)
The title of game of the week was taken by Zanaco vs Zesco United as they locked horns at the sunset stadium. This game saw the return of Fackson Kapumbu to his former home; facing his former team.
The first half began on a high note as chances were created by both teams with the away side created more than the home side as Lazarous Kambole fired from range only for the ball to fly over the upright just by a few inches. A few minutes later in the 11th minute David Owino Odhiambo caught sight of the goal and poked the ball into the goal through a number of Zanaco players who were trying to defend. Zesco continued to mount the pressure as the 1st half went on and at that point Zanaco seemed shaken by the early goal but they held on avoiding the scoreline from worsening and they did enough as the match ended 0 -1 at half time.
The second half started with new ambition for Zanaco as they turned the tide and piled more pressure on Zesco keeping Jacob Banda busy on a few occasions. Chances came for both teams but they were a few and apart, although Zanaco came the closest to scoring in the second half through substitute Martin Phiri when he caught Chitoshi’s cross into the 18-yard area and directed the ball into the top corner only for Jacob Banda to pull of a save inspired by his spider-like reflexes. On the other hand, when chances fell to Zesco they were wasteful as they had a 1 on 1 with Winston kalengo who tried to lob the ball over the keeper but failed, the match went on with not much action or goal action as both teams saw it through that the game ended that way and it did 0 – 1 to Zesco United FC.
